From its creation in 1971, with the opening of the undergraduate programs in Industrial and Mechanical Engineering, the Engineering Division has been forming professionals with the responsibility to present solutions to the problems of the world within technical, economic, political, social, environmental frameworks and in fact any other scene that involves humans and its relationship with their surroundings.
Nowadays the division has more than 15,000 graduates from the different disciplines that we offer: Industrial, Mechanical, Systems, Electrical, Electronic and Civil Engineers. Since 2004, we have also offered the undergraduate program in Industrial Design. We have also formed professionals in compatible undergraduate programs to the areas previously mentioned.
It is a pleasure for us that you are visiting our Webpage, and we hope that you find a guide to help you with your academic selection. We would also like to tell you about the transformation and growth that has occurred in our Institution especially in the engineering area.
In 2006 Uninorte turned and with pride we were elevated as a reference institution for the region; the institutional accreditation which we received by virtue of our academic excellence is one of the greatest titles we can show at a national level. We are one of the five universities in the country with this merit, thanks to the quality we have in our academic programs.
The Engineering Division depends on high quality accreditation in the programs of Industrial, Mechanical, Systems and Civil Engineering, which allow us to be at the vanguard of changes and tendencies in Engineering in the world. Also, we are deeply involved investigation, which consolidated existing Master of Industrial and Mechanical Engineering and the design of other Masters programs will be offered soon.
At the end of the twentieth century, the Division managed to develop the doctorate program we will be able to offer it in 2007. This will be the first program of this nature in the area of Mechanical Engineering. Industrial Engineering will follow in 2008.
On the other hand, our professors are well-informed with the international scientific and academic community, and it is not rare to find them presenting their investigation results internationally in some of the most important events and magazines, working on projects locally, regionally and nationally, generating technology for satellite navigation through the Magdalena River, developing technology for the corporation of Biodiesel. Because of the Universityies mission to have only the best trained and knowledgeable professors we have been deemed one of the most important universities of the world, accompanied by the best laboratories infrastructure conditions, library and technology.
