It
is a great honor for me to give you a warm welcome to the
link of the School in Education on
the Webpage of Universidad del Norte.
The Institute of Superior Studies in Education, IESE, seeks to make the commitment that the University already has with the educational development even more visible in the country and the Caribbean region, offering an optimal development of the formation of educators and scientific investigators in education, with the purpose of contributing to the formulation of educational policies based on scientific rationale, with an unequivocal ethical and moral content, and a high sense of responsibility.
At the same time, we seek to develop programs and investigation lines in the educational scope, that lead to the formulation of alternative, rational ways towards a more humane, just and equitable society that guarantees the integral improvement of social life.
The investigation groups of the IESE are: Education and Cognition, Language and Education and Educative Computer Science, which are classified in Colciencias, some of them obtaining participation in partnerships at national and international levels. The IESE offers undergraduate and postgraduate academic programs, which grant high quality qualification to human resources in the area of the education, in addition it has other units like: The Education Observatory, the Physcoafectivo Program "Pisotón" and the New Technologies Unit.
With the IESE, we look to support institutional figures that articulate investigation in education and the formation of under and postgraduate students. We also seek programs of educative projection in the community and institutions that possess ample field of studies, consultants' offices and consultancies in education that are available to the service and demands of the public and private institutions, national and international, all regional and local administrations, and the State.
For all those visiting us for first time through this means, it pleases me to tell you that our University is accredited for its Academic Excellence by means of resolution 2085 granted by the Ministry of National Education on September 5, 2003, a date in which we were one of the three universities of the country receiving such distinction. On this page our students, graduates and visitors, will find suitable means to keep in touch with its alma mater, to stay updated on our services and programs, and to get acquainted with the new features that are arising every day. Finally, I invite you to use this communication tool to research all the current information referring to our programs and services.
