
The Business Administration Program has been offered since 1966, the year of the creation of Universidad del Norte Foundation, with the objective of influencing, through formal education, the changes that organizations require to successfully face the challenges of demanding economic developments in a highly dynamic and competitive environment.
The Business Administration program of Universidad del Norte Foundation key objective is to develop professionals in Business Administration with solid ethical values, capable of leading and strategically integrating human talent, the knowledge of management areas and organizational processes with aims to achieve goals within the organization and respond to the dynamic national and international environment as well.
Occupational Profile: The action fields for the graduate of the Business Administration Program is quite ample and varied, as much as the activities of the human being are. This is how he can evolve in organizations of the public and private sector, production of services or goods, with or without profit, in the areas of trade, international businesses, human management, finances, operations and logistic, able to confront the process of economic and social change of the country and specifically of the Atlantic Coast, as well as being and industrialist generator of work.

The International Business program of Universidad del Norte responds to a strong tendency towards globalization in regional and national companies in respect to its need of facing new management challenges. Likewise, each one of the opportunities these tendencies offer, demands professionals who will work for social and economical development in the region and that are prepared to face the challenges that come up in the dynamic and ever-changing world of international businesses.
This program intends to strengthen the capacities of those students who are looking to gain experience in the local, regional, national or international context, and those looking to work in a multinational company, national or international organisms. To achieve this, their skills are clearly identified, especially in the investigation of subjects such as: globalization, international trade of goods and services, international economical integration, market expansion, corporative and international finances, cultures and negotiation, which are all included in the program's study plan. In the same way, the students may also approach these different investigation processes through by participating in each one of the different lines of the International Business. Occupational profile: The field of action of the graduate of the International Businesses program will be framed in the development of present and new international markets, in the benefit of services and consultant's offices of international businesses and foreign trade, as well as in the creation of its own company, the development of alliances in the world of the global businesses, and in the exploration and obtaining of international resources for the organization.
In this sense, the graduate will be able to work in companies that dedicate themselves to the different processes from imports and exports, international harbor activities, private and governmental development of regional projects with international incidence and organizations that work for the international development of the region and the country.
Work-Study Plan - (Administrative Sciences Practicum Program)
The Work-Study Plan (PET) is part of the learning-teaching processes represented by the practicum semester, which the students of the Business Administration Program of Universidad del Norte participate. Through the Academic Department Work-Study Plan the relationships between the University and companies within the country, typically local, are utilized to encourage and give students' practical use within their determined major. The practicum sites are chosen for their location and the follow-up of the students during their development and practice is considered vital and useful information.
The Administrative Sciences Division through their Work-Study Plan Department seeks that the students during their practicum semesters obtain the following:
The business practicum is considered an important experience for future professionals and strengthens the integration and cooperation process between the business sector and the university. The Work-Study Plan also offers a consultancy program for students with the help of their professors, graduates and executives, as well as a follow-up of the Director of the Work-Study Plan Department according to the task given the students by each company.
Once a student enters the practicum semester, the student is qualified to participate within the different administrative areas; such as, Planning, Organization and General Management, Human Resources, Production, Marketing, World Trade, Finances and General Operations like in-service, commercial, manufacturing and financial organizations in both public and private sectors.
While our students participate in their practicum semesters, they are expected to develop and strengthen their capacity to work in the following areas: Function and Procedure Management, process restructuring, administrative reorganization, strategic analysis, factual studies, marketing research, financial analysis, formulation and project evaluation, department creation, occupational analysis, cost analysis, organizational audits, implementation and inventory control, budget elaboration, method and time study, export plans, among others.
The practicum must last a maximum of six (6) months and five (5) months minimum, with a full-time schedule. The practicums in the Business Administration program are mandatory in both the seventh and ninth semester and each has an equivalence of 16 semester credits each.
