
The Law program, according to the social functions that correspond to the exercise of this profession within the society, has as its mission the formation of integral lawyers through the judicial, humanistic and ethical competences necessary to perform correctly in a globalized and changing world. In the process of judicial formation, we not only focus on the importance of the student's knowledge of basic principles that apply to each one of the branches of law, but also to the formation of the judicial criteria necessary to solve problems with the use of judicial and alternative problem solving mechanisms. Also these professionals should be able to understand and interpret the social phenomena in which judicial institutions perform, from their own point of view as well as their efficiency, and acquisition of basic investigative skills that will allow them access to new developments of knowledge.
The aforementioned is complemented with humanistic and ethical aspects that will allow the student to know and interpret areas of thought and the origins of the distinct social components. They will also be consciously aware of their social commitment in favor of the country and the region with the aim of forming an honest, critical and ambitious citizen, inspired by principles of tolerance and democracy.
Occupational profile The lawyer of the Law program of the Legal Sciences Division of Universidad del Norte is prepared to evolve in the different rolls that the exercise of the profession offers, as an independent worker in professional litigation or at a consultant's office, linked to the public or private sector, as an adviser, judicial civil employee or administrative authority, taking into consideration the importance that is given, within the formation process, to certain aptitudes and competitions that favor their investigative, problem solution, ample vision of the world and interdisciplinary work capacities.
