The XV Pan-American Conference of Traffic and Transportation Engineering (PANAM XV) will be held for the second time in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, on September 14th-17rd, 2008, at the Cartagena Hilton Hotel.
PANAM is the premier transportation conference in Latin-America. It is the largest transportation event on this important part of the world. Held bi-annually since its inception in 1980, this important conference is regularly attended by several hundred transportation researchers, senior decision makers and transportation professionals, including present and past Transportation Ministers, from nearly all countries in the Americas, Portugal, and Spain.
The main objective of PANAM is to provide a forum for the discussion and sharing of experiences related to transportation research. Participation in PANAM XV would enable you to get in direct contact with key North, Central and South American researchers and decision makers, and develop formal links of exchange of ideas and cooperation with transportation professionals from the Americas, Caribbean countries, Portugal Spain and Europe.
PANAM events are organized by an international Scientific Committee formed by several Panamerican investigators. The Scientific Committee is formed by a President (Rodrigo A. Garrido, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Chile), an Executive Vice-President (David Briggs , DBA Group, Ecuador), three vice-presidents, one for each area : Juan de Dios Ortúzar from “Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile”, Chile (Transport Planning and Economics), Helena Cybis from “Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul”, Brazil (Traffic Engineering and Road Safety) and José Holguín-Veras from the “Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute”, United States (Freight Transportation and Logistics) , and many other members. The Scientific Committee is responsible for the academic structure of the Congress; they are also in charge of deciding the conference venue as well as providing all the necessary support to local organizers.
