The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Universidad del Norte invites nominations and applications for an open full-time faculty position beginning July, 2020. The Department currently have 3 positions available.

The Department seeks individuals that will complement and strengthen our outstanding faculty. The preferred candidates will be willing and able to teach fundamental course work in both the undergraduate and graduate programs.

The following attributes and credentials are required of the candidates:
1. An earned doctorate in one of the following areas:

*Construction
*Materials
*Construction Management
*Structural Engineering
*Geotechnical Engineering

2. A strong commitment to, and excellence in, undergraduate and graduate level teaching.
3. An ability to teach course work at all levels, from first year courses to graduate courses, but also fundamental courses (e.g., construction materials, Statics, introduction civil engineering, Labs, etc.) as necessary and as assigned by the Department Chair.
4. Willing to participate in departmental and institutional activities, such as academic advising, assessment initiatives, institutional service, or other activities as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications
· Ability to work across multiple specialties within engineering, particularly in areas related to materials and construction management.
· Strong oral and written communication skills (Spanish and a second language).
· Industrial, commercialization, or post-doctoral experience.

DEPARTAMENTO DE INGENIERÍA DE SISTEMAS

M.Sc Position: 1

The Department of Computer Science at Universidad del Norte invites nominations and applications for a full-time faculty position in Computer Science Fundamentals. The rank will be determined by applicant qualifications. Successful applicants will be expected to sustain a medium level of scholarly research and publication; teach and advise undergraduate students; and contribute quality service and outreach to the department, college, university, and profession.

The successful applicant is expected :

1) to hold a M.Sc. in Computer Science or a closely related engineering field by the date of the appointment, 
2) to demonstrate expertise in one or more of the following areas: Fundamentals of Algorithms, Data Structures, Graph Theory, and Algorithm and Complexity. 
3) to demonstrate proficiency in a second language (i.e., a TOELF iBT of 100), we do prefer English as such second language. Whenever the M.Sc. is obtained in the US, this item is immediately fulfilled. Besides, this item is optional but will give you some extra points whenever you have it.

P.h.D. Position: 1

The position is at the level of Assistant Professor, with rank to be determined by applicant qualifications. Successful applicants will be expected to sustain a high level of scholarly research and publication; teach and advise undergraduate and graduate students; and contribute quality service and outreach to the department, college, university, and profession.

The successful applicant is expected :

1) to hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related engineering field by the date of the appointment,
2) to demonstrate expertise in one or more of the following areas: Data Analytics, Data Assimilation, Inverse Problems, Bayesian Inference, Covariance Matrix Estimation, High-Performance Computing, and Numerical Optimization (for large optimization problems), and
3) to demonstrate proficiency in a second language (i.e., a TOELF iBT of 100), we do prefer English as such second language. Whenever the Ph.D. is obtained in the US, this item is immediately fulfilled.

El Departamento de Ingeniería Eléctrica y Electrónica tiene abierta la convocatoria para contratar con el siguiente perfil:

Profesional en Ingeniería Electrónica o similar

Indispensable Formación de Doctorado con énfasis en Sistemas y Circuitos Digitales. Se busca que el candidato tenga los siguientes conocimientos y/o experticia en: 

  • Circuitos Lógicos

  • Microprocesadores

  • Microcontroladores

  • DSPs

Dispositivos Lógicos Programables, FPGAs, etc.

La Universidad del Norte trabaja con dispositivos de la compañía ALTERA.

Se requiere que el candidato tenga dominio del idioma Inglés y demostrada competencia investigativa (publicaciones).

Se dará prioridad a candidatos con formación doctoral obtenida en universidades domiciliadas en países diferentes a Latinoamérica.
